The only Tala Village Taverna Food Guide..... anywhere.......
The focal point of Tala Village is in the Square, a typical beautiful Cypriot village square that includes little shops called Kiosks, bars, coffee shop serving Cypriot coffee and taverna’s.
All the Tavernas serve traditional Cypriot food, from Lamb Kleftiko to the famous village meze. But each Taverna is known for one or two special dishes and we will try and guide you here.
One of our favourites... is Melitzia Tavern, which can be found just before you reach the Square from Tala Vera. Savvas is your host and the food is cooked by his wife Maria. Probably the best Keflitico in the village plus other traditional dishes such as Stifado with beef or for the more adventurous rabbit. The village meze is also very good. Melitzia has a very good reputation with the local ex pats and so booking a table is recommended.

Donkey Man... Onisiforos formly owned Voukani Tavern. With new owners it serves up an international cusine. People are welcome to just have a drink on one of the tables and relax watching the village life go by.
Onisiforos sadly passed away in 2007 but his stories and reputation will live on..
Natasa Karaolos Restaurant.....
Sitting... on the edge of the Square is Natasa Karaolos Restaurant, known for its Crackling Pig and Greek Night between May to October every Monday.
A special Meze is served on The Greek night while the dancers perform local and Greek dances. Audience participation is very welcome!
You must book in advance for this night.
Family run ..Stamna Tavern just up the lane from the square is run by Savvas and his family, a truly family run business.
The speciality is village meze and anything from the grill, specially the catch of the day. A warm friendly atmosphere, the children perform Greek dancing on a Friday or Saturday night. Brandy is delivered in a unique way, be warned.
Tables are outside to enjoy the summer nights and in the colder months a roaring fire is alight inside to keep you cosy.
Closed on Mondays. Telephone: 26653635 mobile: 99403158
Just out of the village sits Vrasidas Tavern and Museum. Well worth a visit to see the strange things on display.
Vrasidas is busy with local Cypriots eating which is the best compliment a tavern can have. Vrasidas really comes into its own in the winter months with the roaring fire in the centre of the building, to keep you warm while you enjoy the Kleftiko or some other traditional dish off the menu.
Greek nights are on Friday nights during the summer months.

Other places to drink in Tala.......
Marios pub, serves snack food during the day. Sit inside or out and enjoy the local brew of Keo, Leon or if you dare the Commandaria!
Marios has a large TV for those all important football matches.
For beer on tap... go to the original home of Savvas and Maria, Rosie’s tavern is now owned by an English couple.. Serving bar food during the day and drinks only after 6pm. They have quiz nights during the week.
......The Gallery, Coffee, Art and Wine.
The newest bar to Tala is the Gallery, Coffee, Art and Wine. Situated just off of the square opposite Voukani Tavern. A lovely cobbled courtyard for a relaxing evening. Live Piano on some nights.
Round the corner from Marios Pub you will find an unamed bar where local Cypriots and Ex pats drink. From our experience anyone is welcome, but it does get quite smokey.
